Eric Cedillo is a lifelong Dallas resident and dedicated advocate for justice with a legal career spanning nearly three decades. Born and raised in Dallas, Eric has spent his life serving the very community that shaped him.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s School of Law. In 1996, right out of law school, Eric began practicing law with a classmate, representing individuals harmed by negligence. Since then, he has remained committed to standing up for victims – handling numerous pre-litigation matters and taking several cases through trial.

Throughout his legal career, Eric has been a member of numerous organizations geared toward the representation of victims in legal matters, and representing the continued right to trial by jury. These include the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, State Bar College, Dallas Bar Association, Hispanic Bar Association, and America Bar Association. Eric has also served as a barrister in the Mac Taylor Inn of Court – a selective legal organization focused on fostering ethics, professionalism, and mentorship within the legal community. His involvement as a barrister reflects not only his commitment to excellence in the courtroom, but also his role as a mentor to the next generation of attorneys.

In addition to his legal practice, Eric served for 19 years on the adjunct faculty at SMU Dedman School of Law, where he led the Consumer Advocacy Clinic and supervised students in the Civil Clinic. These clinics provide free legal services to low-income individuals—offering students hands-on experience while meeting critical community needs. “The clinic has been very close to my heart,” Eric says. “Our students do tremendous work representing vulnerable clients and delivering a meaningful service to the community.”

Eric’s public service is deeply rooted in his love for Dallas and his passion for civic empowerment. He currently serves as National Legal Advisor to the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and is President of the Mexican American Bar Association of Dallas. He is a founder of the Latino Voter Empowerment Coalition and the Immediate Past President of March to the Polls – a Dallas-based nonprofit focused on civic engagement. Eric also serves on both the Dallas ISD Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and the Dallas County Citizen Election Advisory Committee.



Outside of work and public service, Eric enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and rooting for his alma mater, the University of Texas Longhorns. His deep roots in Dallas, commitment to service, and drive to uplift others continue to guide his work and his life.
