Maria S. Lamas has lived most of her life in Texas. She attended the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, graduating with a Joint Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish. During her undergraduate experience, Maria obtained many accolades including the Dean's List, the Thomas Aquinas Academic Scholarship and the Mexican Summer Culture Program Scholarship. She also contributed to the University Newspaper as a bilingual weekly column writer and was an active Student Association of Latinos member.
Maria attended Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas where she earned her juris doctorate. There she excelled academically consistently making Dean's list, was an active member of the Hispanic Law Student Association, and founded the Texas Wesleyan International Law Society. While attending law school, Maria gained valuable experience by working as a law clerk for the Department of Justice, at the United States Attorney's Office in the Civil Division and volunteering at Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services Unit and at various law firms.
Maria is licensed to practice law in Texas and is completely fluent in Spanish.
